JIC launches online watch guide for consumers

New York--Fueled by demand from consumers who were curious about timepieces, the Jewelry Information Center (JIC) has launched a new interactive Watch Guide on its consumer Web site, JIC.org.

The Watch Guide is the latest feature to be added to the site, which was relaunched in January as part of the JIC's consumer marketing initiative and is designed to educate consumers about fine jewelry and watches. The Watch Guide joins several other successful sections of the site, including the Buyer's Guide, Design Gallery, Gift Guide and Jewelry Stories sections.

"There was a desire from our visitors to have more watch education available on our Web site," says Amanda Gizzi, director of communications for the JIC. "We created a fun, interactive, beginner's level watch guide that meets those desires."

Visitors using the new Watch Guide are able to describe the timepiece they are seeking by responding to a series of questions about their needs. The results are then compiled to specify features the browser might choose to consider when buying a watch.

Since knowing the correct terminology for the timepiece features assists the customer during the buying experience, the site also includes an "Interactive Watch Guide" section, which offers an expanded list of savvy watch-buying tips.  Also included is an interactive glossary that allows consumers to click on key watch terms for definitions that include visual depictions. The JIC collaborated with WatchTime magazine in creating the glossary.
